Tiger Woods Faces Historic Struggle at 2024 Masters with Worst Score Yet

AUGUSTA, Ga. — In a surprising turn at the 2024 Masters, Tiger Woods experienced one of his most challenging days on the golf course. During his third round at Augusta National Golf Club, Woods posted a 10-over 82, marking his highest score in his storied Masters history, spanning 99 rounds. This difficult round included a particularly rough start, with a six-over 42 on the front nine, highlighted by a string of bogey-double-double-bogey.

Woods, a five-time Masters champion, seemed out of sync right from the onset. Despite demonstrating solid control with his driver in the initial two rounds, Saturday saw him struggling significantly. His drives were erratic, and his usually reliable short game faltered, adding further strokes to an already slipping score.

Reflecting on his performance, Woods pointed to his preparation as a contributing factor to his dismal play. “I didn’t have a very good warmup session, and unfortunately, that carried over into the round,” Woods commented. “I found myself hitting to all the wrong places and missing putts that usually should be routine for me.”

The weather conditions were favorable, which should have been a boon for Woods, whose career has been plagued with injuries. However, he cited fatigue as a major issue, exacerbated by a grueling 23-hole effort on Friday to stay above the cut line. “It’s been tough not playing as frequently as I used to. It seems like when I needed to turn things around during the round, I just couldn’t make it happen,” Woods explained.

Despite Saturday’s setbacks, Woods remains determined to respect the tournament and his love for the Augusta course by continuing to compete. Woods, known for his resilience, isn’t ready to let a rough day deter him. He plans to undergo treatment and prepare meticulously to play his 100th round at Augusta on Sunday.

Looking ahead, Woods remains hopeful. “My team will get me ready for tomorrow. It’s going to be a long night and an early start, but we’ll be ready to face it,” he assured.

As Woods gears up for another day, fans and spectators will eagerly watch to see if this champion can find his form and finish strong in a tournament that has often brought out his best.
