The Golden Bachelor’s Stars Announce Divorce After Three-Month Marriage

Just three months following their high-profile wedding on national television, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, stars of “The Golden Bachelor,” have announced their decision to divorce. The news was shared by Turner during an appearance on “Good Morning America.”

“Theresa and I have engaged in several deep conversations and have carefully examined our living arrangements and other aspects of our lives together. Through these discussions, we’ve mutually agreed that parting ways is the wisest decision for us at this time,” explained Turner, aged 72.

The couple’s journey began on the debut season of “The Golden Bachelor,” an ABC reality show designed for senior contestants, where they first met last fall. Their relationship quickly progressed to marriage, celebrated in a ceremony broadcast in January.

Nist, 70, expressed gratitude towards their supporters, saying, “It’s overwhelming how much hope our story has given people. We wish for that to continue inspiring others, regardless of our current situation.”

While they did not delve into specific reasons for their separation, Nist, a financial services professional from New Jersey, and Turner, a retired restaurateur from Indiana, hinted at difficulties in settling on a place to live. The couple had previously revealed plans to possibly reside in South Carolina during an interview with ABC News’ Juju Chang last November.

“We explored numerous homes in South Carolina and considered New Jersey as well, but we never reached a decision,” Nist shared.

The show featured Turner, who was seeking a new beginning in love after the loss of his high school sweetheart, Toni, in 2017. Although their marriage has come to an early end, both Turner and Nist affirm that their affection for each other remains strong.

“I am still in love with her, without a doubt,” Turner confessed. “I root for her every day.”

Nist reciprocated the sentiment, saying, “Yeah, I still love him.”

Their brief union, though ending in divorce, continues to be a tale of love found later in life, resonating with and hopefully continuing to inspire many.
